General description:

Xeikon designs, builds, installs and maintains complete digital printing solutions for labels and packaging, document & commercial and folding cartons. The same goes for ThermoFlexX, our specialist in flexo and letterpress plate makers, and basysPrint, CTP for digital imaging of offset printing plates experts. Part of the Flint Group, Xeikon’s pioneering products and services will form the foundation of a newly created division to be called Flint Group Digital Printing Solutions. This new division of Flint Group will further broaden the group’s conventional and digital printing solutions, offering a unique proposition of equipment, consumables and services across its global markets.

As we continue to expand our operations into the Australian and New Zealand markets we are looking for a first line service engineer to assist Xeikon customers using Xeikon’s advanced digital presses in their production environment. Your goal is to guarantee an optimal functioning of Xeikon machines, to assure the service levels agreed with the customer and to assist the customer in achieving the best printing quality. Aiming for customer satisfaction is part of your attitude.

Your working area will be Australia (Sydney to Melbourne), with a preferred location of Melbourne. You will need to be open for travel in both countries as well as occasional international travel to APAC and Europe.

Once you have achieved a high level of competence as a first line service engineer, opportunities will be available for you to be trained as a Print Consultant and Trainer. In this role, you would take on additional responsibilities to offer advice and train customers about digital printing and printing workflow. You would continue to support customers as service engineer during interventions and on phone support.

Main tasks:

  • Phone support on Xeikon machines, finishing equipment and workflow;
  • Interventions, scheduled and preventive maintenance at customer’s site to assure high efficiency of the Xeikon engine;
  • Site surveys in preparation for a machine installation;
  • Support during machine installation until full acceptance of the production line;
  • Technical support for workflow and application topics.

Profile:

  • First class technician with a technical educational degree (diploma / bachelor) and some years of experience in machine maintenance, field engineering and/or graphics industry;
  • Based in Melbourne
  • Good practical, up-to-date knowledge of common IT hardware and software;
  • Excellent analytic skills, quick learner of technical information;
  • Customer oriented;
  • Self-supporting, self-driven, flexible, stress resistant;
  • Cost conscious, pragmatic.

Preference will be given to applicants with the following skills and experience:

  • Digital printing machine hardware and software;
  • Finishing equipment for printing industry;
  • Graphics and print process;
  • Prepress software: adobe creative suite CS5;
  • Page Imposition layout & software;
  • How to generate HR PDF files;
  • RIP software similar to Harlequien or Adobe CPSI;
  • Color management ICC profiles;
  • Workflow Esko, Prinergy, etc.;
  • Papers and substrates.
